Also the elders in urban were ready to pay for staying in old agehomes. However the elders in rural who preferred staying in old age homes couldnot afford for the same.53 17. Reasons for old age homes [Chart 28 (a) & (b)]The elders preferred staying in old age homes majorly to get rid of loneliness. Inaddition, they equally demand help in emergency, moral support and security inboth the areas.54 18. Ways to successfully deal elderly abuse [Chart 29 (a) & (b)]To handle this issue successfully more than 50%elders in urban areas suggestedthat the children should be alerted and sensitized about strengtheningintergenerational bonding followed with equal weightage to other ways likeincreasing financial assistance to elders, effective legal reporting and redressmechanism and formation of self-help groups for old citizens.55 "
